Argonne’s Bike Share program provides employees, students, users and visitors with free bicycles as a healthy, sustainable and fun way to travel on Argonne’s campus. To participate in the program, individuals must first complete training course ESH561: Bicycle Safety.
Non-employee students, subcontractor employees and long-term visitors (such as scientific users) must also complete and submit a Non-Employee Bike Share Liability Waiver (ANL-877).
Pick up a free bike helmet
Participants can receive a one-time free bike helmet by bringing a copy of their training course certificate to one of two locations:
- Building 460 Guest House – open 24/7
- Building 046 – Tuesday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Individuals are responsible for replacing helmets as needed. Helmets should be replaced if they are damaged, lost and/or on a five-year basis.
Argonne’s Bike Share program offers bicycles at various locations throughout the Argonne campus. Bikes are available from early spring until early autumn, weather permitting. The bikes and helmets are paid for with savings from on-campus recycling and energy efficiency programs.
