Jeff Chamberlain, a former Argonne staff member and current CEO of Volta Energy Technologies, will give a talk on Oct. 20, 2017, on the latest developments with Volta and the work the company plans to do with Argonne in energy storage research.

The talk, which will be hosted by the Argonne Collaborative Center for Energy Storage Science (ACCESS), will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Building 402 Auditorium. All Argonne staff is invited to attend.

Volta seeks to serve as a bridge between private companies that have a stake in cutting-edge energy storage research and institutions such as Argonne that are at the forefront of that research. Volta and Argonne have come to agreement on a cooperative rResearch and development agreement (CRADA), and an initial task order for work to be conducted at Argonne is forthcoming. Energy Systems (ES) Division Director Don Hillebrand is the principal investigator on the CRADA with Volta.

Chamberlain held several roles during his 11 years at Argonne – he served as deputy director of the Argonne-led Joint Center for Energy Storage Research, Director of ACCESS, head of the Electrochemical Energy Storage Department, and as a senior account manager in what was then known as the Office of Technology Transfer.

Prior to joining Argonne, Chamberlain, who holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry, worked as a scientist for multiple private companies.
