Everyone who works at the Argonne site will be contacted at their work and home email accounts, cell and home phones and by text message when the Argonne Alert System is tested Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at 9 a.m.
The Argonne Alert System is designed to inform employees and site occupants about time-sensitive and other emergency announcements as soon as possible via a phone call, email or text message. For example, if the start of laboratory operations is delayed due to snowfall, you’ll receive an email, text message or telephone call to the contact numbers you have listed in Workday.
The test will include a request to confirm that you’ve received the message. You only have to do one of the following:
- You’ll probably get the text message first. If you reply with the number “1” within two minutes, the system will cancel follow-up phone calls.
- Email messages will include a “Message received” link. Click the link to acknowledge receiving the message. There will be a bulleted list of additional instructions below that are added by the system — you can ignore them.
- If no confirmation is received by text or email, the system will call your cell and/or home phone. Follow the instructions in the message.
Please inform family members and others living at your home address about the test so they’re not alarmed by the message. When employees receive a call from the Argonne Alert System, the number displayed on caller ID will read 630-252-0015.
The Argonne Alert System will be used in addition to the Info-Line and other means of providing emergency information.
Before the test, employees should verify and update their contact information in Workday. Personal information such as home phone, cell phone and home address should be entered, but does not need to be viewable to all employees for the Argonne Alert System to work.
To enter contact information, log into Workday and click the Personal Information icon. Click “Contact Information” under “Change.” You can update the information by clicking the “Edit” button in the top-left corner of the screen.
