Workshop to examine the ‘Human-Machine Partnership’ of AI

A workshop on “Artificial Intelligence: The Human-Machine Partnership” will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Building 203 Auditorium. Its premise: Computers augment the human brain and help ­­us better understand and predict. The human-machine partnership is changing society for the better.

The workshop is organized by the Systems Science Center in the Global Security Science Division (GSS), in coordination with the EGS and CELS directorates. The meeting is open to all Argonne employees and affiliates.

The agenda includes:

  • A talk by Marius Stan, interim director of the Systems Science Center in GSS, on “Artificial Intelligence: Humans and Machines.”
  • Panel discussions and presentations on natural language processing machine learning and predictive analytics, agent-based modeling and decision making, and immersive visualization and augmented reality.
  • Discussions on AI’s impact on human society, including AI activities and events at Argonne and Chicago area, in the United States and worldwide.
