All Argonne researchers who have an interest in applications of quantum information science and quantum techniques for particle physics are invited to attend the Quantum Sensing for High Energy Physics workshop held Tuesday, Dec. 12 through Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, from 8:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Building 240 Conference Center.

This workshop will focus on identifying quantum sensing approaches and techniques that can be used by future high energy physics (HEP) applications to further scientific goals and may lead to new measurement techniques for particle physics.

The workshop brings together distinguished members of the quantum information science (QIS) and HEP communities and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) observers.

The first day of the workshop will provide a genuinely pedagogical account of the underlying theory and an overview of the state of the art of many principal quantum sensing techniques, followed by a day and a half of talks by practitioners (from HEP and QIS) using the key techniques and their variants. All presentations will be plenary and are intended to be highly interactive.

The deliverable of the workshop is a report to DOE that will include a summary of the field as it pertains to quantum sensing for HEP and proposed promising directions or initiatives that are suited for particle physics to pursue.

Registration is required.
