In 2015, the University of Wisconsin-Madison was fined $56,000 after Transportation Security Administration agents discovered hazardous materials in a student researcher’s checked luggage.

Find out more about this incident and what you should do to make sure hazardous materials are transported properly through this safety share, courtesy of Julie Hanebuth (ESQ) and Elitiana Perez (FMS).

Pease share this info with your colleagues and/or staff.

Beginning each meeting with a safety share is a great way to break the ice, begin team building from the onset of meetings and keep safety at the forefront of our minds each and every day.

The Safety Share Library is binned by topic area, providing a variety of resources for your convenience.

All employees, groups and divisions are encouraged to submit safety shares for inclusion in the library. Submission details are available on Inside Argonne.

Each month a safety share submitted by an individual will be selected by Environment, Safety and Quality Assurance to receive a Spot Award for demonstrated safety leadership. The Spot Award program offers three award levels: gold ($100), silver ($50) and bronze ($25).
