In February 2018, Joseph Keslin (BIS), Shari MacGregor (BIS), Madonna Pence (BIS), Kerri Schroeder (BIS) and Betty Waterman (CPA) received Gold Spot Awards for their efforts to organize, revise, edit and correct Argonne’s new Electrical Safety Manual.
The team, led by Pence, devoted numerous hours since early fall 2017 to take on the task of combining 17 previous policies and procedures into one manual. Not only does this manual offer a single source for nearly all electrical safety-related subjects at the lab, the team also set up internal and external links to enable employees to navigate to required documents and resources as needed. The team’s efforts have advanced Argonne’s overall electrical safety program.

Spot Awards give employees “on-the-spot” recognition for positive safety or quality assurance initiative. The Spot Award program offers three award levels: gold ($100), silver ($50) and bronze ($25).
If you see an employee exhibiting behavior that warrants positive recognition (e.g., safe behavior or process improvements), you can nominate that individual for a Spot Award by submitting xink form Spot Award (ANL-758).
The form will be routed to the individual’s supervisor and division for approval. Observers may award employees from their own division or from other divisions. The cost of the award is charged to the recipient’s division.
Additional information about the Spot Award program is available on Inside Argonne.
