Set up your new voicemail by Aug. 28

The Argonne community will soon benefit from a new, feature-rich voicemail service.

“The telecommunications group of Business & Information Services (BIS) is replacing the current system because the hardware and software supporting the existing voicemail service is obsolete,” explained Corby Schmitz, manager, Network Communications Operations & Support (BIS).

Effective Aug. 28, 2018, the laboratory will be implementing the new voicemail service across campus, and the current system will be shut off on Oct. 1, 2018. The new service is part of an upcoming laboratory-wide telephone system upgrade. The new voicemail system will provide users with a web interface that enables new self-support capabilities, such as resetting voicemail security codes (in old system, PINs), managing voicemail messages, and changing preferences, among other new features.

Between now and Aug. 28, all users will need to set up their new mailboxes by (1) selecting a new security code and (2) recording their names and greetings. Before Oct. 1, users will need to review archived messages since they cannot be moved to the new system.

As described in the Aug. 6 email announcement about the upgraded voicemail system, BIS has prepared detailed instructions, which include FAQs, on how to set up a new voicemail box.
