The Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) at Argonne postdoc and graduate student lunch and learn will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Building 241, Room D173.
Since 2013, the Argonne ACT-SO high school research program’s mission is to partner Ph.D. or other graduate-level Argonne researchers and staff with talented and promising African-American high school students to perform imaginative research with a high level of rigor. Our goal is to encourage these bright, young innovators to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Postdocs and grad students act as a mentor and work with local students on competitive STEM research projects. There are also opportunities to serve as a co-chair to recruit and train mentors, recruit speakers, facilitate student-mentor pairings, organize monthly workshops, ensure that students are prepared for their research projects and serve as a program contact.
All interested postdocs and graduate students are invited to attend. Food and refreshments will be served.
Please RSVP at AAA-ERG@anl.gov.
