Seek a fresh eye
Whether performing daily tasks or new assignments, you should feel free to seek insight from peers or resources beyond our own work groups to observe activities, discuss performance and provide feedback to help identify improvement opportunities.
Benefits to this approach:
- Issues can be addressed before they can become a problem.
- Fresh perspectives of observers enable personnel to improve how they carry out both routine and non-routine tasks.
- Soliciting observers’ input at the point of performance and sharing this information underscore the Integrated Safety Management (ISM) model, in which efforts to improve process and safety are continuous.
