As part of Aronne’s Earth Day celebration, teams from across the lab submitted sustainability improvement ideas for the chance to have their idea funded and implemented by the Sustainability Program. Attendees are invited to vote for their favorite ideas at the Earth Day celebration on Thursday, April 18, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Building 213 Cafeteria.
Proposed sustainability improvement ideas include:
- Invasive species education and action day
- Install occupancy sensors for energy efficiency and savings
- Improve the repurposing and notifications of available property (APES)
- Green chemistry: excess chemical sharing, substitution and procurement
- Expand composting and replace plastic utensils with compostable options
- Grow fresh organic produce onsite for cafeteria use
- Bike maintenance station or service provider for employee bikes
- Air compressor for proper tire pressure for personal vehicles
- Expand landfill diversion with zero waste boxes
- Transition unused blacktop to green space
