Applications and nominations for the fourth cohort of the Launchpad Program are due Monday, July 15, 2019. The basic application template can be found on the Launchpad Program website.
Launchpad helps early- and mid-career, high-potential researchers develop new skills to grow professionally, position themselves as thought leaders in their domain, secure increased funding for new or expanded work, and develop new research directions.
The U.S Department of Energy (DOE) has recognized this program as a complex-wide best practice in recent reviews. The program supports Argonne’s efforts to sustain a world-class community of talent and enhance the lab’s leadership in science and technology.
Researchers in the Launchpad Program, which is managed by the Technology Commercialization and Partnerships division (TCP), are funded by the laboratory to devote a portion (up to 50%) of their time to working closely with internal and external experts to develop or expand a sponsored research program.
Cohort 4 will continue to build upon the successes of the first three cohorts of Launchpad, the positive feedback from DOE and lab leadership, and the support of the Argonne Commercialization Council. The cohort will include selectees from division- or directorate-nominated researchers, working on priority program development within their respective organizations, as well as selectees from an open solicitation.
TCP hopes to identify up to four members of the cohort from the nomination pathway and up to four members of the cohort from the open solicitation pathway.
The selection process, which involves evaluation of a brief written application followed by in-person interviews with a selection committee, will be the same for candidates from both pathways.
