Register today to attend one or more sessions of Intellectual Property Week

The Legal Department and the Technology Commercialization and Partnerships division (TCP) invite you to attend one or more sessions of IP Week, which is aimed at providing Argonne researchers with information and guidance to help them better manage intellectual property (IP) and make maximum impact with their research.

IP Week sessions include insights and guidance from Argonne researchers who have successfully worked in this space, Argonne Legal staff, U.S. Department of Energy Legal staff, Argonne business development reps, and representatives from external organizations.

Registration is required for all sessions.

Schedule:

IP Week Kickoff and the Importance of IP
Monday, Oct. 7, Building 402, Lower Gallery, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

  • Glenn McKeown (Argonne general counsel) and Ushma Kriplani (interim associate laboratory director, Science and Technology Partnerships and Outreach) on the importance of IP to Argonne and its mission
  • Supratik Guha (director, Nanoscience and Technology division) on the role of IP in building strategic laboratory programs
  • Brian Lally (assistant general counsel for Technology Transfer, U.S. Department of Energy) on the importance of IP to DOE

  • Yuepeng Zhang (principal materials scientist, Applied Materials division) and John Hryn (group leader, Emergent Materials and Processes, Applied Materials division) provide a researcher’s perspective on the importance of inventions
  • Karen Blouin (assistant chief counsel for Intellectual Property, DOE) and Greg Krumdick (director, Applied Materials division) on DOE patenting of Argonne Inventions
  • Mark Hilliard (chief patent counsel) Chris Claxton (business development executive, Technology Commercialization and Partnerships division) on inventions, patents and licensing at Argonne
