During October, breast cancer awareness month, lab employees and visitors will see members of Argonne’s Protective Force wearing pink traffic vests and cancer awareness pins while working their shifts at the gates.
The initiative was proposed by Joe Thompson (STE), after Protective Force and Site Access employees were challenged as to how they could improve customer service and employee engagement while supporting one of the core values. Helping to highlight awareness of breast cancer demonstrates respect for all who have been affected by the disease. Reaction from lab staff has been overwhelmingly positive — more than 50 compliments were received on Tuesday morning, including one from a scientist conducting research on a cure for cancer.
