UChicago seed-funding opportunity: Call for pre-proposals

France and Chicago Collaborating in the Sciences (FACCTS)

A seed-funding opportunity for collaborative research with a laboratory in France is now available throught the FACCTS Program, an initiative administered by the France Chicago Center, and supported by various UChicago units, Argonne National Laboratory, Fermilab and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Pre-proposals are due by Monday, October 10, 2016.

Background

Argonne researchers who seek support for research conducted collaboratively with a laboratory in France and who wish to be considered for seed-funding support are invited to submit a pre-proposal on or before Monday, October 10, 2016.

Up to five pre-proposal applicants will be invited to prepare and submit a full FACCTS proposal by Friday, December 2, 2016.

One Argonne project will be selected to receive funding through the LDRD Program.

Details

While projects in all areas will be considered, applications are particularly encouraged in areas that align with Argonne’s major initiatives, which include:

  • Applied Energy and Sustainable Transportation
  • Biology and Environmental Science Capability Development
  • Hard X-ray Sciences
  • Materials and Molecules Manufacturing
  • National and Global Security
  • Next Generation Computing
  • Nuclear Energy Science and Technology
  • Universe as the Lab (ULab)

Funding is limited to $20,000 per year for up to two years.
