Monday, April 18 | “To Recycle or not Recycle: That is the Question” Transportation Systems Analyst Linda Gaines (ES) will lead a thought-provoking presentation and discussion around the science behind materials recyclingUsed laboratory-owned batteries can also be brought to the cafeteria for recycling at that time. (e.g., AA, AAA, C, D, 9V and button batteries) Time: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. |
Tuesday, April 19 | Guided nature walk Take a short, relaxing, guided walk in a forested area and learn about Argonne’s natural resources. The walk will be led by natural resource experts and ecology researchers. Time: Three start times are offered: 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. Note: Participants should wear appropriate walking shoes, long pants and long-sleeve shirts. Bring a rain jacket or umbrella in the event of light rain. |
Wednesday, April 20 | Breakfast treats for green commuters Employees who carpool, vanpool, take public transit, drive their electric vehicles or bike to work today can pick up a complimentary breakfast treat. Thursday, April 21 | Behind-the-scenes “green” tour of ESB Take a short walking tour of the Energy Sciences Building (ESB) and learn about its sustainable features. Participants will tour unique, behind-the-scenes mechanical systems that keep occupants safe and comfortable and save the laboratory energy and operating costs. Time: Three start times are offered: 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. |
Friday, April 22 | Climate films @ lunch On Earth Day, join your colleagues to watch one or more short, climate-themed films. Introductions and brief discussions will be led by Argonne subject matter experts in climate and sustainability. Feel free to bring your lunch. Time: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. |
