Argonne’s Leadership Institute will host an interactive workshop “Creating a More Inclusive Environment: What Does It Look Like?” on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, in Bldg. 240, Room 1416. The workshop is designed to help all lab employees better understand how our everyday actions impact our colleagues. Two separate sessions, one for senior leadership, division directors and department heads, and one for employees will be held.
The workshop, presented by The FutureWork Institute and DeValk Associates, Inc., is another step in the lab’s efforts to make progress on our Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) journey. The Leadership Institute invites you to see workplace situations come alive as professional actors demonstrate the complex and sometimes challenging issues of human dynamics in the workplace. The scenarios are based on common themes identified in our D&I climate survey. The program will help participants learn to be more conscious about the way our actions and communications can affect our colleagues. It will also show how to interrupt unconscious bias when you see it.
All employees are encouraged to attend the workshop and help the lab progress toward the greater goal of an inclusive, safe and empowering workplace — where the backgrounds, talents and viewpoints of all employees are welcomed and valued.
