A workshop on inclusive leadership skills will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9, and Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016. A choice of two sessions will be offered each day: 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.
Did you know that professionalism and leadership skills are two of the 6 Core Competencies for postdocs? Did you also know that the ability to work in a team structure is consistently the top sought-after skill for employers?
What does this mean? Where does one start learning these skills?
At its basic core, leadership, professionalism and teamwork starts with connecting with others. In this workshop, guest facilitator, Ralph Brandt of the RDR Group, will lead activities and discussions that will enable participants to improve connections and help create an inclusive environment. These skills will carry forward with you throughout your career and provide a good foundation for becoming a leader.
Some topics course participants will address include distinguishing between diversity and inclusion, identifying barriers hindering inclusion, learning behaviors to promote inclusion and acquiring skills to promote connecting with others.
Four sessions are scheduled to accommodate schedules. For maximum experience, course size is limited to 30 participants per session.
