On Thursday, March 16, 2017, Argonne will host the 30th Annual Science Careers in Search of Women (SCSW) Conference. This full-day event provides female high school students with an extraordinary opportunity to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields through a variety of interactions with Argonne’s world-class researchers and mission-support employees. We are seeking mentors to participate in the SCSW student luncheon from 12:45–1:30 p.m. in the Bldg. 240 TCS Conference Center.

During the course of the day, students will hear motivational presentations, attend career panel discussions, tour Argonne facilities, discuss research posters, and engage with industry professionals at career booths. At lunch time, students will dine with over 70 inspirational Argonne employees.

The luncheon connects Argonne professionals with small groups of four to six students who have been selected by their schools for their interest in STEM. It is a unique forum where students can ask questions and you can share your career experiences in a relaxed social setting. We are expecting nearly 300 young women to attend this year’s SCSW Conference.

To volunteer to mentor young women at the SCSW student luncheon, please complete the SCSW luncheon volunteer form by Friday, March 10, 2017. This is a great chance for you to inspire young women to pursue STEM careers.

Questions can be emailed to Esther Bowen. For more information on the full program for the day, visit the Educational Programs SCSW page.
