Argonne Combined Appeal 2016 campaign

This year’s annual Argonne Combined Appeal (ACA) campaign starts Monday, May 2, and ends on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. The ACA originated in 1961 when the laboratory decided to combine all charitable outreach programs into one organization. In 2015, employees donated $279,277.

The ACA helps support the disadvantaged in the surrounding communities of Argonne as well as national nonprofit organizations. Contributions to the ACA provide food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, sanctuary for the abused, education and training for the disadvantaged, living assistance for the physically and developmental challenged, treatment for the ill and research toward cures for a host of debilitating diseases.

During the month-long campaign, employees are encouraged to donate to one or more charitable agencies either through a payroll deduction or a cash donation. The online pledge system is now located in Argonne’s Xink application: Argonne Combined Appeal Contribution (ANL-1061).  See Inside Argonne for instructions for filling in the form.

Employees can select from among 20 charities. Two new charities have been added to this year’s list: ALS Association and Disabled Patriot Fund. Learn more about the agencies ACA helps.

Downers Grove FISH is no longer on the list, so if an employee selected this agency in 2015, they will need to reset their contribution to another charity.

To encourage donations, gas cards will be awarded each week to early contributors. Names will be selected at random and awarded a $25 gas card. The first week, four names will be selected; the second week, three names; the third week, two names; and the final fourth week, one name.

For questions, contact ACA Co-Chairs Christina Hanks and Sheila Trznadel.
