Advanced Photon Source (APS) and Advanced Protein Characterization Facility (APCF).
Thirty biochemistry students from Harold Washington College in Chicago recently toured Argonne’s The students were interested in learning more about X-ray crystallography for protein structure since they have been experimenting with recombinant DNA, E. coli protein expression, protein purification, enzymatic activity and crystal growth for X-ray diffraction. Youngchang Kim (BIO) led the group on a tour of the APCF and provided an overview of X-ray crystallography for protein structure determination and drug discovery applications.
The tour of Argonne’s facilities was designed to enhance the students’ learning experience and provide them with information on new career paths.
