Nanoscientist Seth Darling (NST) was recently interviewed on Illinois Public Media’s The 21st, a public radio talk show that brings listeners news, culture and stories that matter to Illinois.
Darling contributed to the segment “Solar Power in Illinois,” where he discussed the declining costs of solar power, the storage of solar energy, flow batteries and how weather affects solar panel operation.
Seth Darling’s current research blends chemistry, physics, nanoscience, and materials science and engineering to create and study materials for energy and water.
Recent studies have focused on design of next-generation solar energy devices, new architectures for water purification, and advanced lithography techniques based on sequential infiltration synthesis.
Darling serves as the Solar Energy Systems strategy leader for the laboratory and has developed new models of the economics and life cycle assessment of solar energy.
