Effective communication with stakeholders is vital to raising Argonne’s visibility in the scientific community. Communicating effectively can help attract funding, enhance professional reputation, collaborate across disciplines and engage the public. Communications and Public Affairs (CPA) and the Leadership Institute (LI) will offer a science communications workshop on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, facilitated by the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science.

This half-day workshop is a condensed version of the Alda Center’s two-day science communication workshop and focuses on understanding and connecting with your audience, breaking down information for clarity and understanding and distilling your messages to create more impact.

Through discussions and practice, the workshop will focus on fundamental skills — knowing and connecting with the audience, and speaking clearly and conversationally about your work and why it matters.  The goal is to learn to communicate more effectively with the public, sponsors, industry partners, policymakers and peers.

The workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Building 446 Auditorium. Seating is limited. To register, please send your contact info to leadershipinstitute@anl.gov.

Registrants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Once the class is full, names will be placed on a waiting list and will be given first priority for additional workshops to be held later this year.

Please contact the Leadership Institute with questions or for more information.
