Building 240 will be closed to employees starting on Friday, June 17, 2016, due to a necessary power upgrade. Building engineers will begin powering down at 6 a.m. and the outage is expected to last two days. Current expectation is restoration of power sometime in the late afternoon or evening on Saturday, June 18, 2016.
Employees will not be permitted inside Building 240 on June 17 and will not be allowed back in until the all-clear is given. The shutdown will affect building and conference center systems, telecom closets, elevators, rooftop AC systems, fire alert systems, outlet power and the Data Center.
Employees should discuss telecommuting plans or an alternative work area with their supervisor or divisional management.
Nearly all normal Argonne business systems and computing services provided by Computing and Information Services (CIS) will remain operational, but the following services will be affected:
- The Argonne Service Desk and Desktop Support Service will be available with limited support.
- The Argonne Service Desk and Telecommunication Services will not be accepting “walk-ins.” Employees can contact the Argonne Service Desk at ext. 2-9999, option 2, and Telecommunication Services at ext. 2-9999, option 3.
- The Argonne Library will be closed.
- Some TMS Training videos may be unavailable throughout the day.
In addition, CIS and divisional IT support teams will announce any specific outages related to this work to the appropriate stakeholders as the date approaches.
