Argonne’s Sustainability Program is seeking volunteers to help with the laboratory’s annual Earth Day celebration, which will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Building 213 Cafeteria. The event highlights Argonne’s impact in securing America’s energy future and delivering economic growth through research in energy and the environment.

Argonne programmatic research exhibits, interactive displays, giveaways, activities designed to promote sustainable actions at the laboratory and at home, and a raffle will be featured. The event will also include community partners and “green” programs, clubs and services.

Volunteer opportunities are available for both the Working Group and the event day.

Working Group volunteers

These volunteers help provide input on the event details and attend a few planning meetings from February through April, as well as attend the event. New ideas are encouraged each year to help keep the event fresh and interesting. Additional information is available in the Working Group description.

Event day volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help with the raffle, hand out native plants and other giveaways, and serve as greeters. One-hour shifts are available between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

If you are interested in volunteering, email sustainability@anl.gov.
