by Robert J. Einspar (IS), Continuous Improvement Manager

Beginning Tuesday, March 12, 2019, the Fire Alarm Office within the Security Travel and Emergency Division (STE) will begin distributing Emergency Response Notifications via Vector. These notifications are sent to safety and emergency response employees, and laboratory leaders, for their information and possible response.

Notifications will be generated through Vector for both emergency and non-emergency events, and be distributed to recipients in lab operations, associate lab directors, division directors, and additional stakeholders based on the circumstances of the reported event. Recipients will get an initial notification with a brief description of the event, and a final notification when the event has concluded. Any updates occurring while the event is ongoing also will be communicated via email. Information about the circumstances of the event will be communicated through the email notifications, and recipients are asked not to contact the fire department with requests for additional information.

To ensure that there are no gaps in communication and reporting for emergency events, the current processes for incident reporting, including the 911 email and ANL-918 XINK form, will continue to run in parallel with the new Vector process initially, but be phased out later.

Members of the Infrastructure Services Team will host a question-and-answer session on Friday, March 15, at 11 a.m. in Building 241, Room D173, to provide the opportunity for feedback, and address any additional questions about emergency response notifications in Vector. To report a problem with emergency response notifications, or any other items in Vector, please contact the Argonne help desk at 630-252-2999 or at help@anl.gov.
