The Women in Science and Technology (WIST) Program has added several members to its steering committee. They are: Harry Weerts (Associate Laboratory Director representative), Charles Macal (Argonne Distinguished Fellow representative), Robert Wiringa (Argonne Distinguished Fellow representative), Margaret MacDonell (CELS representative), Megan Clifford (EGS representative), Jennifer Steeb (EGS Representative), Karen Burgess (OPS/OTD representative), Betty Dai (OPS/OTD representative), Carmen Soriano (PSC representative), Jessica Metcalfe (PSE representative) and Rachel Klet (Postdoctoral Fellow representative).
WIST steering committee members are selected from employees on the scientific, technical and professional staff. Members are expected to attend all meetings and fully participate by contributing ideas and helping with different tasks as needed. To carry forward the WIST mission, committee members work closely with the WIST Program Initiator and other steering committee representatives from Argonne management.
WIST has been a catalyst for outreach since its founding in 1990. A broad base of volunteers enables its initiatives to thrive and benefit the laboratory’s culture, visibility and ability to attract a diverse workforce. The WIST Steering Committee’s mission supports Argonne’s Strategic Plan for diversity, as it provides leadership and resources to promote the success of women in scientific and technical positions at the laboratory.
