Take a relaxing, 30-minute walk in a forested area and learn about Argonne’s natural resources on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. The walk will be guided by natural resource experts and ecology researchers.

Participants will learn about the history of our forested areas, invasive species control efforts and projects to re-establish native woodland plant species, as well as how a healthy woodland can contribute to Argonne’s long-term climate resilience and sustainability goals.

Three walk starting times are offered at 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.

The walk will begin in the Building 617 lower level parking lot. From there, the group will walk over the Freund Brook bridge and continue along the trail through the woods to Outer Circle Road. From there, participants will return to the Building 617 parking area.

Participants should wear appropriate walking shoes, long pants and long-sleeve shirts. Bring a rain jacket or umbrella in the event of light rain.

The nature walk will be rescheduled in the event of heavy rain or thunderstorms.

Additional information about 2016 Earth Week activities is available online.
