The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will hold a peer review of their Grid Modernization Initiative (GMI) projects Tuesday, April 18 through Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The event is open to the public and will provide an opportunity to learn about the current state of technology and network with energy sector stakeholders.

A portfolio of more than 80 grid modernization projects across thirteen programs will be reviewed. The comprehensive review will look at the projects at a program level, provide lessons learned and share best practices. Twenty-nine foundational projects will be examined in the peer review process, where industry leaders will serve as objective reviewers. A dedicated poster session will provide the opportunity for attendees to learn about the other projects in the portfolio.

All GMI activities, are guided by the  Grid Modernization Multi-Year Program Plan (MYPP), which describes a portfolio of activities to help set the nation on a cost-effective path to a resilient, secure, sustainable and reliable grid that is flexible enough to provide an array of emerging services while remaining affordable to consumers. The MYPP describes the RD&D activities the Department will focus on over the four years, including opportunities for public-private partnerships. For more information about the Department’s strategic comprehensive approach to grid modernization, visit the Grid Modernization Initiative section of the Energy Department website.
