The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County will potentially conduct prescribed fires in Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve the weeks of Nov. 4 – Dec. 15, 2018, and Feb. 17 through April 13, 2019.
Prescribed fires will be conducted only on days that meet the following parameters:
- Wind speed greater than five mph
- Relative humidity between 5 percent to 70 percent
- There has been no precipitation or enough time has passed since the last precipitation event to allow fine dead fuels such as leaf litter and grass to dry.
Those who may be sensitive to smoke can sign up for email air quality notifications when burns are conducted.
